Creating a Dora the Explorer Bedroom for Girls

Yes, it's true. I have a granddaughter who is completely in love with Dora the Explorer. And she now wants to have her bedroom decorated in a Dora look. Her mother pleaded with me to help her out!

So, we came up with a charming grouping just for a little girl's bedroom. The Dora the Explorer world is available in many different items that can come together as a great look for a child's bedroom.

As always, when I begin a decorating project, I choose the largest piece first. In any bedroom, that's the bedding.  We found some fun options in the Dora the Explorer theme for bedding sets. Once we picked the bedding, we could then go on to choose what color scheme we can work with.

Dora herself is dressed in a pink shirt with blue pants. So these are easy color choices. But, the different bedding options include other colors, like yellow, blue, orange, even browns and neutral colors. There are plenty of choices for colors to work with.

Next we found some Dora wall decals. We arranged them in little exploring groups in different places around her room. One even travels from closet door to the side of her dresser. This created an absolutely charming effect with no painting or wallpapering needed.

Finally, we added a few little touches complete her look. Dora the Explorer, as a stuffed doll, sits on top of my granddaughter's bookcase. Sitting next to her is her little monkey pal.

The effect turned out to be just what she wanted and my granddaughter is thrilled. Her mother is equally thrilled. The cost of redecorating her room was well within their budget. Simple little changes and accessories made the Dora the Explorer theme come to life.
